PLDT Enterprise and Smart empower Bohol MSMEs with digital skills on AI, e-commerce platforms

PLDT Enterprise and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have successfully brought their eBiznovation Buy Local Bazaar to Tagbilaran City, Bohol, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bohol Province and Tiktok Shop Philippines.

“We recognize the crucial role that MSMEs play in our economy. Through our eBiznovation program, we’re not just providing digital tools; we’re empowering these businesses with the knowledge and skills to leverage technology effectively, including cutting-edge AI solutions. This initiative is proof of our commitment support MSMEs and drive digital transformation across the Philippines,” said Jinky Q. Francisco, Head of PLDT Enterprise SMBiz – Visayas and Mindanao.

Over 70 MSMEs participated in the comprehensive upskilling sessions covering basic marketing and branding concepts, viral content creation, smartphone photography and videography, internet safety, and various techniques for selling on the Tiktok platform.
Notably, participants were also introduced to easy and efficient AI-powered productivity tools tailored for business applications, enhancing their operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Vierna Teresa Ligan, Provincial Director of DTI Bohol Province, emphasized the significance of this initiative: “Today marks a significant milestone as we harness the power of technology and innovation to revolutionize the way we engage in e-commerce. In today’s digital age where connectivity and creativity intersect, Tiktok has emerged as a dynamic platform where trends are born, and businesses thrive. DTI Bohol’s partnership with PLDT Enterprise and Smart underscores our commitment to fostering an inclusive and thriving digital economy.”

This support for MSMEs nationwide is aligned with the PLDT Group’s overall thrust to help the Philippines achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, through equipping local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with essential digital skills and AI tools to thrive the evolving e-commerce landscape.
