The fight against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Guimaras got a big boost after the province received 1,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPEs) from the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) on July 15, 2020.
OCD Region 6 Director Jose Roberto Nuñez personally delivered the PPEs at the Provincial Capitol in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
Nuñez said that the PPEs were from the Department of Health (DOH) and will be utilized for the frontliners of the Province of Guimaras in fighting the deadly COVID-19 virus.
Governor Samuel T. Gumarin who personally received the PPEs and expressed gratitude to the DOH and OCD.
“Daku ini nga bulig para sa aton away batok sa COVID-19. Ang Probinsiya sang Guimaras nagapasalamat gid sa aton mga agencies, kay Director Nuñez sa pag-ulikid sa aton mga frontliners paagi sini nga donasyon,” Gumarin said.
The donated boxes include surgical masks, coveralls, gloves, goggles, shoe and head covers.
Guimaras has deployed hundreds of frontliners manning the screening posts at all ports of entry and the quarantine facilities of the island.
As to date, the province remains free of COVID-19.
Gumarin said that their frontliners are among the reasons why the island remains free of the deadly virus thus, they shall be equipped with personal protective equipment.
