MORE Power inaugurates Megaworld substation
Another milestone for More Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) as it inaugurated its newest, cutting-edge 30/36 MVA New Megaworld Substation on Wednesday, March 20 at the bustling Iloilo Business Park township in Mandurriao district.
This is the first permanent substation project of MORE Power since it started operations in February 2020, and it promises to revolutionize the city’s power capacity and reliability, positioning it as an attractive destination for potential investors.
With its state-of-the-art technology and a strategic location, the substation is perfectly poised to meet the growing demand for electricity in key areas such as Megaworld, Ayala, SM, and Mandurriao.
The milestone event was graced by no less than MORE Power principal owner Enrique Razon, Jr. and Megaworld Corp. CEO Kevin Tan.
Razon said that the project is a “testament to our commitment in supporting the growth and development of the local community, by providing reliable and sustainable power supply.”

This substation is a testament to our unwavering dedication to innovation and excellence to a hope that it will bring significant benefits to the community,” he added.
Mayor Jerry Treñas, who also attended the event, thanked the investments of the distribution utility which support the goals of the city government in becoming the top most livable-highly urbanized city in the country.
“Let us all recognize the efforts of MORE Power to help us reach this goal. Facilities are continually upgraded and necessary repairs are made even during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Teams are deployed 24/7, and communication lines are always open to quickly respond to concerns of the consumers. Customer service is professional making customers feel valued,” Treñas said.
“You have done a lot for the Ilonggos Mr. Razon kag MORE Power, and I am very optimistic that there will be MORE from MORE. As we start to level up our city. We have to ensure that quality, electric power distribution becomes the standard. This enables us to improve quality of life, and prompt holistic development,” he added.
Roel Castro, President and CEO of MORE Power explained the features of the state-of-the-art substation, which is capable of unmanned operation. It can be controlled and operated off-site and capable of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
The Megaworld substation will soon be operated and controlled from a Control Center, which is also under construction along Diversion road.
“This substation will actually be our standard right now. Well, just to put a little pride in it, this is one of the latest in state-of-the-art in the country right now. So, all of these is geared towards electric service infrastructure in Iloilo which is very reliable, adequate, and stable,” said Castro.
Kevin Tan is grateful that Megaworld is part of the initiative to boost Iloilo’s power capacity and reliability and provide cost efficient electricity service to the community through this brand-new modern substation.
“Transforming Iloilo City into a world-class investment hub in this part of the country, is our vision… it is a vision that we equally share in the Iloilo City LGU and MORE Power,” Tan said.
“This new substation of MORE Power is a very important development as this will grow a long way in our township communities. As our township communities continue to grow, while significantly enhancing and strengthening Iloilo Business Parks position, capacity and ability to attract investments and sustain new businesses. Moreover, the state of the art facility which can accommodate two 30megawatt transformers will be able to make substantial impact to the neighboring barangays, and communities as this will ensure more access to more cost-efficient electricity,” he added.
The 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park is currently the most successful function of Megaworld Corp. outside of Luzon. The bustling community is now home to 25,000 employees, working in ten office powers. It has 8-residential condominium towers with a total of inventory 2,500 residential units, two-five-star hotels with a combined 500 rooms, and Festive Walk Mall which has 200 retail partners.
The company is currently constructing six towers, and will soon house the largest Iloilo City Action and Response (ICARE) center.
“Our partnership with MORE will further power our goal of attracting and bringing in more investments to the City as its central business district. In having this new state-of-the-art facilities in our township is a big plus and a huge confidence boost to our potential investors,” Tan concluded.
