Iloilo City Gov’t gives cash to honor graduates

Bright students from Iloilo City colleges and universities get cash incentives from City Hall.

Summa cum laudes receive P3,000; magna cum laudes receive P2,000; and cum laudes receive P1,000.
Iloilo City Government has provided cash awards to latin honor graduates as an appreciation, and help them in their shift to the professional world.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas initiated the incentives given to all latin honor graduates, as well as valedictorians, salutatorians and honorable mentions in universities and state colleges in the city for School Year 2019-2020.
Summa cum laudes receive P3,000; magna cum laudes receive P2,000; and cum laudes receive P1,000.
Bernardino G. Umali Jr., a Cum laude graduate from St. Paul University Iloilo (SPUI) was grateful for the early Christmas gift.
“I would like to thank City Government and Mayor Jerry Treñas for acknowledging our hard work and for inspiring youth to do their best in molding their future despite this ongoing pandemic. May this city continue to support and encourage youth to become future leaders and achieve their dreams,” Umali stressed.
“May this serve as one of the inspirations of other students to strive harder. We always value the efforts of our students, and we hope that they will be successful in their chosen careers,” Treñas said.
Aside from Umali, SPUI has another cum laude.
Central Philippine University has three summa cum laudes, seven magna cum laudes and 19 cum laudes.
Iloilo Doctors’ College has nine cum laudes, valedictorian, salutatorian and first honorable mention.
