Iloilo City bags Gawad KALASAG Seal of Excellence
For the third consecutive year, Iloilo City has achieved the prestigious “Beyond Compliant” status in the Gawad KALASAG Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance. This recognition underscores the city’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety, resilience, and well-being of its residents.
The Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan) is an annual award presented by the National DRRM Council. It honors outstanding initiatives that promote and advance disaster risk reduction and management in the Philippines, setting benchmarks for excellence in preparedness, response, and humanitarian assistance.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas expressed his gratitude and pride for the recognition.
“Iloilo City is honored to once again be recognized as ‘Beyond Compliant’ in the Gawad KALASAG Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance for the third consecutive year. Treñas attributed this success to the dedication of the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the DRRM Office. “Their tireless efforts and innovative strategies have allowed us to remain at the forefront of DRRM excellence in the country,” he added.
He further emphasized the spirit of collaboration and innovation that drives Iloilo City’s disaster preparedness initiatives. “Nagapakita lamang ini nga, pinaagi sa aton collaboration kag innovation, we can RISE above challenges and protect our beloved city from the impacts of any disaster,” he stated.
