2024 Gross Sales for Merkado Lokal, Uswag Rolling Store projects reach P8.95M

The Office of the City Agriculturist has announced a total gross sales of P8,950,810.00 for 2024, generated through two major initiatives: the Mercado Lokal and USWAG Rolling Store projects.

The Mercado Lokal program saw substantial revenue generation, with key earnings including P142,305.00 from an event at SM Southpoint in January and P4,291,344.00 from its year-round presence at Iloilo City Hall.

In addition, Mercado Lokal events held at the Central and Calle Real Night Markets contributed P615,876.00 and P404,695.00, respectively. Altogether, Mercado Lokal’s annual sales amounted to P5,454,220.00. Meanwhile, the USWAG Rolling Store generated P3,496,590.00 in gross sales.

The rolling store operated steadily throughout the entire year, from January to December 2024, offering products to a wide range of customers.

Mayor Jerry Trenas expressed pride in the success of the Mercado Lokal initiative.

“I am very pleased with the successful implementation of Mercado Lokal in just one year. This program was started by my daughter, Inday Raisa,” he said.

The Mayor further emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers and small businesses, noting, “By supporting our local farmers and entrepreneurs, we contribute to the continued growth of our economy. Iloilo City is recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, and our government remains dedicated to recognizing and empowering our farmers and small enterprises. Programs like Mercado Lokal help them showcase their fresh produce at affordable prices.”
