Treñas commends ICPO for achievements vs. drugs
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has expressed elation over the significant accomplishments of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) particularly on illegal drugs.
“I am more than happy to express my gratitude and commend them for their outstanding accomplishments. I am also pleased that the strong support of the city government for the PNP is being reciprocated by their vigorous campaign against illegal drugs,” he said.
The ICPO has reported significant achievements in the first half of October, surpassing their entire performance for September.
According to the Operational Accomplishment Report for October 1-15, 2024, 2.1 kilos of illegal drugs worth P14.3 million were confiscated, a substantial increase from September’s P9.9 million.
The ICPO has also made notable progress in seizing illegal firearms and explosives, curbing illegal gambling, and enforcing city ordinances.
Treñas praised P/Col. Kim Legada and the chiefs of police stations for their commendable dedication to make the city safe and drug-free.
On October 17, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) successfully intercepted a significant volume of illegal drugs, with a total estimated street value of over P8 million, from two separate operations in Brgy. Bitoon and Brgy. Tacas, Jaro.
“While these are laudable, I also order the ICPO to intensify their operations and go beyond street and high-level operations and pursue if any, the masterminds behind this illegal trade,” Treñas said. (Janelle Marie Belarde/PIO-GIP)
