Treñas leads in exemplary performance
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas topped the performance survey “Boses ng Bayan” conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).
Treñas achieved an 82.9% score in a recent survey of top-performing city mayors in Western Visayas which shed light on their job performance and their impact on their constituents.
“I am humbled having been ranked No. 1 among Western Visayas City Mayors in the latest survey. I could not have done it without the support of the City Council and the hardworking men and women of the City Government. Through all of them, all the services of the City Government are felt in the barangay level. I thank all of them including our constituents for making things happen in Iloilo City. Bringing Iloilo to the next level is not easy – cooperation and support from all sectors make it possible,” said Treñas.
He was among the mayors who serve as excellent examples of what effective leadership can accomplish in a short amount of time.
“Their scores in the survey are a testament to their commitment to their constituents and the progress they have made in their respective cities. As the Western Visayas Region continues to grow and evolve, it is reassuring that its cities have mayors up to the challenge of leading them forward,” RPMD said in a statement.
They are responsible for various essential services, from ensuring public safety to managing public finances and providing adequate infrastructure.
“That’s why holding City Mayors accountable for their job performance is crucial. The ‘Boses ng Bayan’ survey provides an essential benchmark for measuring these officials’ effectiveness and ability to deliver results. The survey covers a range of metrics, from public safety and financial management to infrastructure and service delivery, providing a comprehensive picture of each mayor’s performance,” said Dr. Paul Martinez of RPMD.
The regional survey is a crucial part of the “Boses ng Bayan” national poll, comprehensively evaluating public officials’ performance, where Treñas placed 6th nationwide with a score of 83% in 2022.
“The survey was based on face-to-face interviews with 10,000 adult respondents, with a sampling error of +/-1% and a 95% confidence level. By doing these kinds of assessments regularly, leaders can be held accountable for their actions and constantly work to improve the lives of the people who live in their cities,” RPMD added.
